air conditioning issues

air conditioning issues
i have a 96 c220, the air conditioner works fine but it does not blow cold like it should im sure that the only issue is that it needs charged but i cant seem to find where to hood the free-on up at. can any one help me out?

If you get one of those kits with a can, a guage and a hose, the nozzle will only fit over the correct port. So you can't mess it up. Locate the AC compressor, the filling port is around that area. It has a black screw-on cap, just like a tire valve, but bigger. I like this guy's guide: http://autorepair.about.com/od/regul...C-recharge.htm
Make sure you have a guage. If you overfill the system, you can damage the compressor and that's a really expensive part to replace. It's technically better to underfill than to overfill, but there is an optimum psi you want to reach. At a garage, their systems constantly monitor performance in real time and adjust the amount of refrigerant accordingly.
