idle problem

I have a 95 c220 that refuses to idle correctly. It feels like a slight miss, sometimes it almost stales out. The miss seems present up to about 2500-3000 rpms, then smoothes out. Is their any common problems I should look for before going to the dealer to have it repaired?

Sounds like your mass airflow meter is going out.

Are there any indicator lamps on? Check engine light? Misfires as recorded by the computer so you could check with an MB dealer to see the codes. It could be an ignition coil, ignition wire, or yes the common faulty MAS.

I had same problem

I almost had same problem and now it is fixed well.

At first, I had some idle on my engine and my check engine light was on. And few days later, I could not start my car at all. So I brought it to my mechanic (Local Mercedes specialist) and he told me the Air Mass meter was damaged. My car also needed to get new spark plugs and air filter. I spent about $600 (I bought my own AMM) to fix everything and Now my car is running like new!.

or you may buy the air mass meter from the internet and install yourself. Air mass meter is located between air filter housing and engine. But you'd better get some diagnosis first.

below is the link where i bought my part.
