keyless entry....

how can you tell if a 95 c280 came with keyless entry....mine has the standard key, alarm, but I was wondering if I mayby it had it, or if I could retrofit it....also, the central locking won't engage from the trunk lock...I can lock and unlock it, but it won't disable the alarm, or open close the other doors like it's supposed too.....real pain when you want to load groceries...thanks

I don't even know if you can put a keyless entry system on a 95 C 280. Mine came with one that the dealer put on there aftermarket and it ket shorting out the whole car. It wouldn't even start. So I really don't think they are compatible with any system like that. As for your trunk lock, maybe there's something wrong with your whole system.

thanks, I looked into this a little more and it looks like the m/b dealer can retrofit the factory system....for a price that is .... took a better look at the trunk problem, and I'm pretty sure that the microswitch that is meant to trigger the system on and off is malfunctioning....not too familiar on how to fix that on a m/b...but if it is anything like the one I had to do for a passenger door on an 89 BMW E32....I think I will leave this one alone for a while....it was a pain in the you know what.....

I guess I should have mentioned that they had to take my keyless entry out of the car completely because it was shorting the whole car out. Like I said, I don't think you can put a keyless entry system on a '95 model without it screwing up the car.

sorry to hear about your bad experience, but I'm not talking about putting an aftermarket system, simply retrofitting the optional FACTORY one....it's a straitforward procedure, and involves just plugging in the module and receiver (no cutting or spicing), and getting the remote for it....if your car was prewired that is...depends on date of construction etc....and, provided of course, that whoever is gonna do it knows what they're doing....for example, my previous car, 89 bmw e32, had the system dealer installed, as it was a dealer option only, and not a factory option for that car, that year.....the cost on the other hand is kinda prohibitive...at least for me....so this will remain just a consept....well, for now at least....

Yeah, I know a guy with a '93 325i, and it was all pre-wired. He ordered the keyless system, took him about 30 secs to plug it in, and that was that.
