2000 C280 Battery Drain problem.....

We've heard it a million times, now I have the problem....

2000 C280 Sport, 115K miles. Car runs great..........something is draining down my battery.

Had a new battery installed by MB in April. At first, if we didn't use the car for three days, it wouldn't start. Now we can't go 24 hours without the battery being down below 12V and car won't start.

I disconnected all the seat modules plugs under both front seats and the battery is still dying.

I sat in the car last night for a 1/2 hour to see if anything reactivated once the car was shut down....nothing.

I haven't started the fuse pulling with a VOM in the line, as I was told this might not prove anything as the car needs upwards of half an hour to really shut down certain circuits???

This is such a shame. We've owned the car since new and it is in perfect condition otherwise. We bought a new C350 and this car simply doesn't get used all that often.

Any help would be appreciated......

Have you tested the charging system? If so, what was the results of the Amp Load test?

Charging system is fine. If I jump start the car and drive just a few miles, the battery is back to full charge (12.9-13.3 volts) This would indicate the battery is charging. And if I use the car every day, there are no issues. It's just when I let it sit for more than 24 hours....

Does the car have the telephone option? On mine the phone was drawing about 500mA and the battery would go flat after 2-3 days (even though the phone was no longer in service and the power off). Also, a controller on the CAN could be draining the battery. Put an ammeter on the battery and observe current after 30 minutes or so. It should be about 60mA or so.

Try unpluging the amp. I had same problem, found a compatible amp. Problem gone. Some part of the amp was draining the battery.
