Serpentine belt replacement.

Another question; I would like to replace the serpentine belts on my C320K. I looked in the shop manual and is indicates that one needs a couple of special tools in order to do this. My question is related to asking if there is an alternative method of detaching the fan pulley without using the MB special thin open wrenches that are suggested or should I just take it to a mechanic that can do this for me?

I think you are reading about a c280. The c230k doesn't need the fan pulled just to change the belts. Swing the tensioner pulley back to loosen the belt and slip it off.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Yes, I got dyslexic with the keyboard when typing the message. Man I hope your right about that belt change process. I plan on changing both the large and small belts. Your suggestion would make the job infinitely easier. The car has just crossed over the 100,000 mile mark and this is something that needs to be done prior to winter setting in.
