Unknown cable in trunk
if it was aftermarket, then u ran new wire from the dash to the changer i'm sure, and that cable u saw was prolly the original M-Benz cd changer cable, which looks weird like that.
If u connected a factory changer unit to your stock head unit in the dash, then u would have used the cable i am thinking bout and i have no clue what the cable u are referring to is... it might be for diagnostics indeed my friend.

look at this benz cd changer to alpine cd changer converter you can buy so u dont have to spend an arm/leg at benz -- the end of the benz side looks like the comp. parallel port. the other end is to be plugged into alpine cd changer.
here's the link if u wanna buy:

here's the pic:
I discovered a cable in my trunk when I was installing my cd changer. It was on the driver side, inside the paneling and everything. It was kinda near the Bose amp. It was just a thick black cable with a plug on the end similar to a parallel port on a computer. I assume its some kinda diagnostic tool, but I dont really know....
When you purchase a cellular phone kit, it comes with a Y-splitter cable that runs from this DB25 ("parallel port looking") connector to both the PSE and Compensator. The two antenna cables connect to the compensator, and the whole deal gets mounted either under the package shelf or between the Bose amp and the quarter panel.
