wheel sizes

obviously mercedes uses 5x112 for their bolt pattern for seemingly their entire range, but do you guys know what can fit on our cars without modification? I was looking at AMG wheels on ebay, but they can get pretty big and pretty wide. I wasn't going to look at anything larger than 17" as i think any bigger is tacky. Tirerack seems to think that a 17x7.7 or 17x8 with a 35mm offset is a good match. what say you?

perfect offset.

if you are going to go 17 get OEM AMG wheels, available thru any Craigslist for nothing.

18 looks good but get the right sizing - 8" all the way around or staggered. anything else looks weird.

Thanks for the advice. There aren't any for sale near me, the closest are about 2 hours away. So I think I will just sit and wait for something to turn up.
