Tranny problem.... I think???
Got into my 00 230k Sport last night and noticed a rattling coming from the back end at idle. Thought it might be a loose exhaust hanger. When I got home I put the car into park and the nosie went away. I get the rattle in reverse and drive at idle. Underload (accelerator pressed) the noise goes away and in park or neutral. Anyone know what this could be? Is it an expensive fix?

Do I feel dumb..... Got the car up on the hoist, turns out its the heat shield near the front rattling when in gear. Didn't think there was that small a gap for when in gear and when not. Thanks for the responses.
I think I should check the motor mounts and tranny mounts soon. Car has 185k on it and they have never been changed. Can anyone recommend when they should be done.
