Speaker upgrade
Hey all,
I'm looking to upgrade my speakers to some rockford fossgates. What is the size for the front door speakers, rear and rear deck? Also, i took out the speaker cover and saw that it (factory speakers) are on mounting brackets of some sort? Do I take those speakers off the brackets and put the new one in or what? Anyone have experience with this from b4? btw, it's a 94 C220. Thanks!

If you've got Bose in it you're going to have to rip everything out and replace the whole system, head unit and all. I believe it's two tweets (1-2") in the dash, 4" in the doors, and 6" in the rear. This is my best guess. Overall you're probably looking at around $400-$500 dollars if you replace the whole thing yourself. Installed professionally you're probably looking at a grand or more. Again, this is if you have Bose, which I do believe '94 C 280's came with.

If you do have a bose setup you can get away with only replacing the speakers but you will have to get a by-pass box. Bose speakers are pre-amped, the aftermarket speakers won't be. The box is like $40.

No bose system. Just regular. I've already changed the deck to a Pioneer DEH-6400. Just sounds crappy with the stock paper speakers....anyone know the size of the speakers and if I can them off the OEM mount/brackets and put the aftermarket ones on?
