M.a.s.

my car has high mileaga and I need to change the M.A.S. I thought I read somewhere that whenever a Benz has a disfunctional sensor it will decrease its power. Is that true? Any first hand experiences? Can anybody get cheaper prices for an oem or aftermarket sensor?

Mine Failed too on a 1999 C280 at 35K mi. Paid a local shop $350 for diagnostic on why the engine light was on and replaced the air mass meter & reset engine light.

Next time, I'd buy it from www.importec.com (about $196 for me) Different prices depending on what years your w202 is.

If the air mass meter fails, basically you get an unregulated amount of air into the engine. Hence the output is either lean or rich and your oxygen sensor senses it, and therefore the check engine light goes on.

Good Luck,

I couldn't get above 5 mph in my car when mine failed. It would just stall out. www.bimmerzone.com has good prices. Not as good as 196 dollars but you may want to check.
