Rough Idle on my 94 C280

Rough Idle on my 94 C280
I just bouhgt this car a few days ago. Has been running fine until one day I heard what sounded like a pop from under the hood, sounded like a mifire or a backfire, and bam, now it's got the rough idle. It has plenty of power when you acclerate but when at an idle it loaps and studders. Sometimes it works it self out but usually as of lately has been more consistant. Any suggestions?

Yes I did check all the hoses and lines and everything looks great. I looked at the MAF and it looks clean and the wires to the plug look great. Now when its starts the rough idleing and i give it gas and even though it has power i can still tell it running a rough through the excelleration powerful but not smooth, if you know what i mean. Then when I shut the car off for a min or two it strats up fiine, all though it will surge in rpms on start sometimes but not an issue. The rough idle goes away for a while before it does it agian.

Hey there, we had the same exact issue with our 99 c230k. Our problem turned out to be a crack spark plug. Change all the plugs and you should be fine. If that doesn't work move on to the wires and coils and consider a full tune up if you can do it or afford it. It probably is not a huge issue.

PLUGS and Water don't mix

Hey Thanks! that's excatly what it was. Turns out the rubber gasket arond the fire wall as off during a wash and some water got down in there and fould out a plug. Everything else is great I am loving this car.
