How to install a CD Changer in a E320 Yr 2000
Hello All:
I recently bought a pre used MB. It does not have a CD changer. I am thinking of buying a unit from the MB dealer and installing it in the car myself. Called MBUSA and they suggested I have the dealer install it. Reasoning provided was that the dealer would have to unlock some code in the car to include the CD player. Another was that starting with model year 1999, the E320s have fibre-optic cabling system. Hence would require special tools for hookup.
Have any one of you installed it at home? If so, did your car require any of this "...unlocking of code programming.." If it did how did you get it done? How is it working now? And by the way what brand (Alpine, Becker.... etc.) is the CD that dealers sell?
Thanks for your assistance.
