I have had this car for about 6 years now, lately it has been starting rough. Once warmed up it runs perfectly fine. I replaced the air & fuel filter, which seemed to help but not totally fix the problem. (there did seem to be a lot of water in the fuel filter.) I cleaned the butterfly on the throttle body and the one to the air filter box. This seemed to have corrected the problem for a short period of time, less than a week. Now it is back to starting up very rough and will not run well until warmed up. I appreciate any and all suggestions.

Not sure what that is but mine does the same thing. I know a few people with a C230 of different years and we all have to let it warm up for about 3 minutes or so. The guy I bought it from said that this is just how Mercedes are. This is my first one so I took his word for it. I have gotten used to it so it doesn't bother me.

Not sure about it being normal, as the dealer mentioned it as an issue to address the next time I had it in. It only did it for the last 10 months that I had the car... which at this point is kind of a non-issue now. Some guy plowed into me the other night and totaled out the car. I will say, what I did do, cleaning the throttle body, and the butterfly at the air intake, also changing the fuel filter, did help.

I am sorry to hear that.. I hope you are ok and they got the guy. Some people need to go back to driving school.
I will try your suggestions. Will you be getting another one? This model must be pretty good. I called every junk yard in Jacksonville yesterday to try to find some speaker covers and a few other simple interior parts and no one had a Mercedes C230 between 97 and 2000.
Again, hope you're ok..

What color is your interior, I am about to have a load of interior parts as I will likely not fix the car.

How would I check it to see if that is the problem? There are no engine lights. Would an auto parts store be able to pick it up on a computer?

MAS sensors usually don't throw a code until they're shot.I don't know your mileage situation,I would say the life expectancy is between 60-80k miles. If you are having rough idle problems or sluggish acceleration, these are the most common symptoms.

Oh it is a bit above that.. 180,000. Besides the few minutes that I have to wait for it to warm up in the morning it drives great. Now that you mention it though the idle does sound a bit off. I just looked it up. Does 300 dollars sound right?

Sorry about the accident. Regardless, how do you know the fuel filter had water in it?
