After getting my door lock replaced, and body work done on the back of my car, my new keys dont turn so easily in the ignition, the steering/ignition lock feels like its always on and sometimes it takes 10 minutes of rocking the steering wheel to start it. last night as I was leaving work, i tried for an hour, then had the car towed to mechanic. he just told me that the steering lock was jammed, and it cannot be unjammed, so my only option is to replace the whole steering lock altogether $600 for parts and labor. something about this doesn't sound right to me as I have been able to un jam it before. Has anyone heard of this?

I had the same problem with my car. They had to drill out the old key tumbler and install a new one. It is usually caused by women who owned the car before you with 5 pounds worth of keys. It cost me 680 dollars to get all this done. I'm not saying this is your problem but that's what happened to me.

That sounds like a "Quality of Service" issue. Did MB do the work to your car? If so, I would take it to them and *****. Cause that sounds like they screwed it up.

ha! my mechanic got it un-stuck after messing with it a bit more, he said that my steering lock is a little messed up, but to make sure that my wheels are straight when I get out of the car. He said it gets stuck when I have my wheels turned and the car rolls back on them, I guess that makes sense, if it ever happens to anyone else, just keep playing with it I guess, I spent an hour with it last night, but I guess after it got towed, the wheels got unstuck or something......i dont know........just glad I didn't have to spend $600 ($860 at dealership!!)
