Rattle/clanking noise
Greetings all,
My 98 c280 has developed at clanking or rattle type noise a few minutes after start from cold. I have prowled around many boards and have come away more confused than enlightened. Some say it could be the belt tensioner,or idle wheel pulley. The worst I heard that I could be a failed cat converter. I only discovered this problem after a two hour highway run when returning to my garage. The car ran like a top by the way.
The car is driven only once a week, and has low,low miles..51k. I have owned it since 06
. Can't say for sure if the belt was ever changed since new.
Any thoughts about this will be greatly appreciated.

Where is the noise coming from? Is it louder under certain conditions? Does it go away at times? If it's coming from under the hood, take a look at all the pulleys while the engine is running and see if anything seems to be shaking or not spinning perfectly in its place.
If you could possibly post a video of the sound, it might help since someone might recognize it.
