NO START versus DIFFICULT COLD START

I am experiencing difficult cold start recently. I scanned thru this forum and got oil change and the mechanic told me that everything is fine and there was no difficult start with him. I changed camshaft position sensor and waiting for fuel filter today and diy it by this weekend. Changing camshaft position sensor did not make any difference after about 200 miles drive. Crankshaft position sensor is involved when there is NO START, but my case is difficult cold start. What should be my next step in troubleshooting this cold start problem?

i had appointment for diagnostics. when the mechanic listened to my symptom in detail, he advised me to delay diagnostics and try this....turn the ignition on for 6-7 times and then start the engine. i said that i have done it upto 4 times and he said "6-7" times". aaaand wandabaah, it starts now at first attempt. he said something about LOW RESIDUAL FUEL PRESSURE. but is is not normal, now i like to know if this is failing fuel pump, valve problem or relay problem. i already have new fuel pump, but if it is only valve or relay, then i will keep fuel pump when it is necessary.
does anyone have fuel pump gauge or tester, that's what i am looking for. which one should i purchase for 95 c280????

from the sounds of it your mechanic is headed in the right direction.if you turn it on and wait and then it starts , you are basically energizing your fuel pump prior to starting which in trn senses you did not have the right amount of inline pressure so it pumps to fill the void and then your car stats. The problem is you are loosing in line fuel pressure.is is either you pressure regulator (located in front of the engine on the front end of your supply rail or your injectors are starting to give by not closing all the way when you switch off your engine. if left unfixed you will begin to have delayed starting issues with the strong smell of fuel as you crank it and or misfire and general loss of power. Start by going to www.bosch.com and search for fuel pressure testers , they have them there and you can buy the entire kit if you plan on working on your car(s) for a while. good investment in that case otherwise take it in and have a mechanic that owns the magical tool use it on your vehicle for a medium to high fee...good luck.

solution to fix is change your regulator , clean your injectors and or if you have high milage just replace all 6 injectors with new ones.. that should happen every 80k (80.000 miles)

then change your air filter and make sure your spark plugs are working correctly. back to the basics. for a gasoline engine to run you need fuel , air and spark at the right time and in the right amounts.kind regards.
