First off my C230 engine revs high and won't go into the next gear when I give the throttle a quick punch. During the quick punch if i gingerly back off the throttle and baby the gas pedal it will slip into gear. This doesn't happen often but if i want to merge on the freeway I have to play with the throttle to get the car into the proper gear.

Secondly, my C230 idles very rough when i first start the car. After i run the car for about 10-15 minutes the idle will go away.

If anyone has any input, it would be greatly appreciated.

Check your Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF). Maybe it's low. Also, you could have you car tuned-up (new spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, etc.) and have your oil changed to synthetic.

The two problems could be separate or related. If they are related to a single cause, I would start by checking for an MAF problem because it could cause both symptoms.
