Hi everyone, I purchased a month ago a 95 C220 with 220k miles with a 80K engine, and I have a shift down problems, when I try to pass or increase speed the car doesn't shift down, and I have to do it manually in 3rd ot 2nd gear and then in D, check engine light is on with code P0411. The trans-reap off shop wants to charge me for a new trans. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is and how can I fix it? please help

95' AMG SeeThreeSix
I had the same issue with my W202 AMG. If it is indeed not a issue mechanically with the transmission I have some suggestions. Be sure to check ALL fuses thoroughly, my kickdown issue was solved after replacing fuse# 29 or 30 (I think). Once you've done this and have confirmed the fuses are intact you can test two other possibilities. First is the actual Kickdown switch for proper continuity (Under the gas pedal). Second is the Kickdown relay/soleniod. If you don't have a manual or wiring diagram I can post back with probe points in the X-harness located in the engine bay, on the drivers side in the front by the fender. You can also probe the Neutral safety switch, hotwire, etc. from here, its a very useful junction to be familliar with. I hope this was detailed enough to get you going, let me know if I can be of any other assistance.

Same issue
Hi, I have a 1995 C36. I have the same issue. I push the pedal down and the car doesn’t go, it does not accelerate any further. The vehicle runs fine as long as I go steady, I can get up to 80mph no issue. The problem is when I push the pedal down, it feels the transmission doesn’t shift and let the vehicle go. Passing a vehicle is impossible, I can not downshift.
I’ve read that it could be the MAF, or the kick down Selenoid. I don’t have any check engine light on, and I’ve not read the codes (ODB1 tool has bot arrived).
if anybody had a experience like this please let me know.
thanks
