How to replace the spark plug?

Hi all,
I’m new in this forum. I just picked up a 1999 C-230k and it’s has a 63k miles on it. I would like to do some maintenance and replace the all spark plug. If I order this from WWW.bmaautopart . Do I need to do any gap adjustment on the spark plug before I replace? I would also like to drain the brake fluid. What is the procedure? Any suggestion will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance..

Hi,
I don't know about the spark plugs, but the brake fluid is a small plastic tank, in the engine bay, up against the steering column. If your facing the engine, look up to the right corner, and it should be like a goldish/yellowish fluid there. That's your brake fluid.

If you get OEM spark plugs the gap should already be set for you. Just follow the spark plug wires to the plugs. Pull off the wire, unscrew the plug and put in the new one. As far as brake flood goes that is something that you should have a professional do or at least do it with someone who has done it before. It is a 2 person process because one person has to step on the brake pedal while the other is opening and closing the valve on each caliper. It's not hard to do but if you mess up you could get air in the brake lines which will cause major problems in the future. When you go to change the fluid I recommend Valvoline SynPower Dot 3 brake fluid.

Welcome to the forum.

Why do you want to drain the brake fluid? Your car needs brake fluid or it won't stop.

about spark plugs, U can do it by yourself but make sure to tide the plugs properly. not too loose but not too tide. use a torque wrench would be better and check the torque spec of the spark plugs.

about brake fluid, i don't recommend to do it by yourself if U don't know how to do so. "air-brake" could be a fatal problem!!!!!!!
i think we should use DOT 4 brake fluid for a modern MB. but make sure to flush it clean. DOT 3 can't mix with DOT 4!!!!

Who are "they"?

Lots of companies make DOT 3, DOT 4, DOT 5, DOT 5.1 ... and YES, you can mix DOT 3 and DOT 4. Also DOT 3/4 can mix with DOT 5.1. The only odd one out of the bunch is DOT 5, don't mix with anything. Don't even put it in anything. Well that is unless your car originally came with DOT 5, and I don't know of any MBZs that did.

BTW, the requirements are DOT 3 I believe. I usually use DOT 4 or 5.1 though, it gives a higher boiling temperature.

Oh, then no. Brake fluid manufacturers don't make DOT 4. Only the government.
