Bud sounds like your having one of my problems! Have been told its a blown head gasket. How does your exhaust look?? if a bunch of steam is coming out this might be the problem. Have heard of a product called steel seal. Found it on you tube. Supposed to fix it? But if your head gasket is blown as we all know it should be replaced. Like i said at the same cross roads you are now. Just purchaced my 96 c280 with the same prob. Keep me informed. Hope this Help some

overheating problem solved - purchased bar leaks from advance auto parts and for about one week, coolant level is same
as far as headgasket is concerned, mb dealer charged me half an hour and advised me that it is external leak, just keep an eye on oil level

Well won't be using the steel seal or other pour in products on my c280. Have only got 18 miles on it since i got it. Now have water in the oil. Have contacted a pretty well known racing machine shop called Pilcher's in enterprise alabama. GONNA have the head massaged a lil. Kinda looking forward to this. Amg might get me in the turns but i'll get them off the line and then some. . Just have some part hunting to do know. Gonna be a few months but it will be worth it.
