saturday fixes....

nice day today, so I got around to fixing a few bugs with my 95 c280.....
1. fuel door would not lock, even though I could hear the actuator trying to go.....hmm why?
2. trunk lock would not lock or unlock the rest of the doors like it's supposed to (would lock / unlock itself though) plus if tried to unlock trunk when alarn was acivated, the alarm would go off
so first I tackle the fuel door issue, I take off the cd changer, carpet etc get to the actuator and indeed it's working but the shaft is somehow missalined so it doesn't go into the hole to lock......turns out a plastic piece of tubing (that was supposed to help quide it in) came loose and slipped back.....so took it off slid it back in and then put everyting back together (took me a while thought )
the second problem I expected it to be a failed microswitch in the lock sensor, so I take off the plastic cover, undo the two 8mm nuts to take the trunk lock out and.......to my somewhat pleasant surprise the lock sensor was just unlugged WTF??????
plugged it back in and now everything is ok......

that still doesn't explain how or why it was disconnected ......but oh well....at least I can load groceries now without having to go to the front door to unlock......

OEM without a doubt. Don't bother with platinum or fancy plugs, your car will run like crap. MB's use resistors in the plug wire boots, so you'll need the proper plugs. There is NO performance enhancing from plugs, so don't bother. Just get the ones listed in the owner's manual, and they'll work the best. Lots of owners have spent huge amounts of time and money tracking down a poor-running condition never considering the new platinum plugs they installed, as, well, they were new.
