97 C280 Interior Mirror Smoking!
Hi all..
As I was driving a couple days ago my interior rear view mirror started smoking! I got home and removed the mirror to look for the trouble. The wires and connections into the roof look fine so I think the hot spot was inside the mirror itself. The mirror was a little loose so I think a wire or something else may have been pinched somewhere inside.
I need to open up the mirror itself but I don't want to break the housing.
Anyone have a solution before I dig into it and probably ruin the mirror?

I had a smoking problem on my 99 C230K on the interior lights. The light smoked and then burned out, but that was just the bulb. New bulb has worked fine ever since.

No problem.. I opened up the mirror yesterday and found one of the diodes or capacitors had burned up. It's on a small circuit board so I have a feeling I'll probably have to replace the entire mirror assembly at some ridiculous cost.. but.. if I wanted a Toyota I could have had one. At least I know what caused the smoke!
