This might help you. He removes and replaces the front lower ball joints on his W202 C230. He makes it look easy...but depending ont he mileage of your car, you may need special tools: a Ball joint separator and Ball joint installer.

Thanks Goldeni245. I learned a lot on the video you send me. My car has 192,450 miles already so i'm hoping it won't give me a hard time replacing it.

Hope you're in a warm climate

Good luck with the job, I'm in New England and its amazing how rust will complicate a job. I just did control arm bushings, ball joints, springs and shocks. Be prepared to jack under the ball joint to load it as needed. For me a tie rod type puller worked well. On my joints rust had worked into the spindle and seized the joint pretty well.

On your replacement joints make sure they have the dimple in the end of the spindle for a puller. Got some Meyle HD joints that were flat on the end and cause a lot of extra work when the puller slipped. Note to self: always leave the nut on when using a puller.

When all else fails, torch and fire extinguisher.

btw there's something called: "Kano Kroil"

It's a very good penetrating oil used by mechanics for repairing big jobs like Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet landing gears where things rust easily.

A few sprays of this oil might help with rusted over bolts and nuts.
