Question Kickdown Mode

when i floor the accelerator, the pedal no longer engages the kickdown button. i dont feel like taking it to get fixed at a dealer so does anybody know how to fix it themselves--its only a minor annoyance anyways.

What car do you own? Year and model, please.

On most W202 cars, replacing the kickdown switch is pretty easy. You take the old one out and install a new one. Not a tough DIY job. You could live with it broken and use the shifter if you desire. Is your car equipped with the five speed auto (722.6)? If so, is the CE lamp lit? If so, then you have a tranny fault.
