Starting Problem
Just 10 minutes ago I experienced the weirdest thing over at my friends house. I just stopped by for 20 minutes then when we went to the car to go leave for my house, the car wouldnt start, or show any indication of starting. All the lights and everything were coming on, but the starter wouldnt catch for some reason. I tried shifting out of park and placing it back into park a few times. Then a family friend of my friend was passing by with the same exact car randomly and then tried starting it. The only thing he did differently was place a little gas before starting. It was the weirdest thing, he was able to start it on the first try. I've never ever experienced anything that weird before.
What I would like to hear is perhaps an explanation for this malfunction in reference for the future so it doesnt happen again. Thanks

thats weird man! how could steppin on the gas make the starter motor react??
feed us with more info. how old is ur car? when was tha last time u changed ur battery?

so basicly the starter motor was just clicking and not turning the engine right? your starter is about to go out then. the bushings inside rn't good enough to touch the contacts so in some posiitions, it wonw't strat. next time this happens, take a long rod and have someone knock it while u're trying to start the car. this works on most cars.

Check Your Battery Contacts
Sometimes a corroded battery post or Terminal clamp can pass enough current to get the lights to operate, but not enough to turn over a starter motor. This can cause an inttermittant failure to start. Clean the contacts and see if that helps. It is cheap, easy and quick to do.

I think they checked all that when I got the battery changed...
I got a few things I gotta get fixed, checked, etc so when I bring it in, Ill have them look at that as well... so now its my right headlight washer, my shifter brushings, and now the terminals/starter motor. I love maintaining a Mercedes!
