C180 W202 '97 - which ODB scanner??
Hello all
I would like to get a diagnostic scanner for my car.
I asked some of the sellers if their product supports my car but the responce was that I need to tell them which ODB version it uses..
Does anyone here know perhaps what type of ODB (ODB II?) this mercedes uses and maybe what sort of scanner I can look at getting?
Best regards
Bernt

96 and up cars all use odb 2 which is standard for code scanners. If the car is older than a 96, you would have to research what if any standard it used. Some manufacturers have additional codes over and above the standard odb 2, and some scanners will read them. Odb 2 scanners use a standard port usually located on the bottom of the dash around the steering wheel.

I just realized I shoudl have added that this is not a US version car.
I did find a 38 way connector near the ECU but nothing inside the cabin.
I then tried the led fault code blinking method but that did not work.
I wanted to order a scanner but they told me I need to tell THEM what kind of protocol the car uses so now I am at a total loss.
