Turbo
for those ppl who think a turbocharger kit is incredibly expensive..(which it is), have u ever come across a C250 Turbodiesel? well, one could search scrap yards for that model and maybe get the turbo and its corresponding pieces and stick it on our nice C230 or C220.
that wouldnt be such a bad idea, cos the turbocharger is already made for a benz and the 250 engine is quite similar to the four banger 220 and 230 and even 280 (whih is 6 cyl).
what u think? cool idea or a bit ambitious?
1.Sizing-does the boneyard turbo match the airflow requirements of the new engine?.Not just "how much boost",but will the turbo's boost curve match the new engine?.Impeller size, housing size, turbine size,A/R ratio...only one right answer will work, and a blowoff valve alone won't help.
2. Diesel turbos will dribble oil into the engine whenever you have vacuum in your intake downstream of the turbocharger.
Diesel engines don't have intake vacuum, and the turbo seals aren't designed for it.You'll smoke worse than my old diesel every time you back out of the throttle.
3.Last of all,MBZ did not design your engine for pressurized induction-you'd be amazed at how hard many parts are upgraded for any of their turbo/supercharged engines. And then there is the little issue of tailoring the fuel injection to match your boost.
