Finally the center console is complete. Got the child lock switch from a friend. Stereo has been replaced. The Interior is complete well minus the rear view mirror. The bezel broke into 4 pieces. So I'm looking for one of those and the cup holder.

Beautiful work! How did the headliner go? Where did you get it or did you make it all yourself?
Did you dye the seat yourself?
You mentioned something about the window switches. I had some corroded pins on the circuit board that I couldn't solder back and had to solder in some jumper wires.
Nice pictures.
Will you be painting it yourself?

My front passenger window went out. Using the Bentley manual, I traced the motor wires to the trunk. I think there was a connector that I pulled apart then I applied 12 volts to the correct pin and up went the window. The only thing forward of that was the switch so I knew that was where the problem was. Then I started checking for continuity at different points along the circuit board until I found the problem. There was corrosion on the board at a solder joint between a pin and the copper track. I never could get it to accept solder despite how hard I cleaned and fluxed it. Soldering in a jumper wire was sort of cheating but it worked well.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Stumbled accross this thread.
Great read!
I'm hoping to keep my w203 long enough to see parts at the local pick and pull.
Ha! Currently need a head gasket though, and wonder if I shouldn't just swap the whole motor. I'm at 195K miles.

Ok Ok here is a thought! Behind the battery is the control box for the windows. If you pop it open their are relays for open and close. All you have to do is touch the top of the coil to engauge it, window up, window down. For all window's. On mine the problem was in the control section by the gear shifter. Had to replace the whole thing, granted mine is a 96 c280 but it had the complete board not seperate switches. Hope this helps.
