Raising the center console a bit
I am installing a Sirius mini type radio in my car, and as I hate a lot of wires and sticking things on dashes etc. I am going to run the Arial wire from the back package shelf, into the large console storage box, and also mount the docking station in the same are place. I need to feed the wire under the carpet, covering the drive shaft hump from the rear seat to the console box, but I need to raise the console up to feed in the Arial wire.
How do I remove that part of the console to get the space?

The video you want is in the link.
Plus the carpet dosnt move to easily. I just put a stereo in w202 and we were going to run wires that same route. Instead we ran them along the door sills and under the drivers feet. There is a seem break in the carpet there

It might actually be easier if at least about the same amount of work to run the aerial wire from up underneath one of the A pillars and then down underneath the dash on either side and then into the back of the console. Not sure where you said you want to mount the radio, but even if it is in the console, its fairly painless to run the wires from front to back as all you need to do is pry up the plastic escutcheon and wooden trim plate with the switches and you can easily snake the wire back to the box in the arm rest. Having had most of these pieces apart at one point or another, it's not that hard to do, at least the second and third time around...

Thanks....The videos are excellent, and a 5 minute job.
Next trick is to remove the ash tray unit so I can tap into the "hot wires" for the Sirius lighter adapter. I plan to mount the adapter in the console, as it looks really tacky when it's in the lighter. I tried to screw out the lighter, as they normally have a thread base, but that was a no go. Any suggestions?

I missed the one video about the ash tray removal, but when I saw it, everything was out and ready to reinstall in 15 minutes or 20 minutes.
For those wishing to install one of the Sirius Stratus 6 units and have it 99.9% no wires visible, drop me a note, and I will give you the full step by step. Mine is a 1998 C230, so that is what I will comment on if your interested.
