'03 Jeep liberty sport, '95 MB C280 Elegance
Hello, new member and first time MB owner.

Just wanted to say hi. I now an owner of a '95 w202 with 109k miles. My aunt just gave this vehicle to me, knowing that i would appreciate it more than just a car from A-to-B vehicle.

Like I said I'm a noob when it comes to MB. All I know it's a '95 w202. They brought this car from japan when her whole family was living there because of my uncle being in the service.

On the trunk of the car it says "C36 AMG" on opposite sides. When I called 2 different MB dealers they gave me some info on the car providing them with the VIN#. They came up with C280 "Luxury Package" with an engine code of "M104.941". Now here is where I get confused, from going online and doing a whole lot of research. The M104.941 engine is a C36 AMG engine code, maybe I'm wrong. I'm getting conflicting info's here. According to the WIKI site, a C280 engine code is suppose to be a "M104.94x".

Is there a possibility that this particular C280 could have a C36 M104.941 engine, since it's from japan? According to 2 different MB dealers, providing them the vin# my engine is a C36 AMG.

Maybe there's a stamp on the block where I could look to verify this info, only problem is where. Can anybody point me to the right direction I would greatly appreciated.

thnx mike

So this is a Japanese version? Is it Right hand drive? Take some pix of the engine and you might get an answer. Those wheels don't look original to the car, but I could be wrong.

Here is a "94 C36 AMG RHD JDM Notice the front/rear bumpers the side skirts also the sport badge, the AMG exhaust tips, the foglights in the bumper, the side marker indicators the AMG wheels the headlight wipers, the grill, the carbon fiber door pilar trim, the folding door mirrors, the AMG gauge dials in the cluster w/280 speedo, the interior leather door panels and front seats w/intgreated bolsters, the rear seat bolsters......all factory installed options for a Japanese C36 AMG.....I'm sorry, I not saying your car is not the C36, it just doesn't have the AMG package or some of the more common options for a C36.....I think it is a C280 w/some uppgrades.
