c280 sports ball joint suspension
I have a 1999 c280 sport model
car used to make clunks when moving over railway tracks
also, on interstate driving above 65 mph it will virate/shake but will be smooth as long as under 65 mph.
took it to a mechanic
weak shocks in the front
worn out ball joint and control arm
original spare parts from benz or autoshops was 200 $ per control arm and bushing on one side
i ordered parts from online for half the price.
THe mechanic now tells me that to access the control arms he has to remove the ABS, brake fluid, cylinders...
that means more labor charge ..
I m not a mechanic and dont know if what the mechanic is saying is true
To change control arms on front driver and passenger side, is it neesary to remove the ABS and cylinders? ???
Any reply would be much appreciated.
THank you.

From what I see/hear on this DIY youtube video for the ball joint replacement, he does not need to remove the ABS and cylinders.....
But I'm not a mecanhic and he may just want more room to work around under the car???
Maybe others will respond with better answer...good luck....
