labor charge for suspension repair
Hi fellow benz users
thanks for particpating in this forum. THis is very helpful for first time car owners like me who dont know much about benz cars
MY car
1999 mercedes benz c280 sport model
has 122k miles.
Problem
1. worn out shocks and ball joints on the front driver and passenger side
2. I bought parts online
3. Labor charge is the main problem
Total cost i have been billed is 1000 dollars for labor alone.
4 hours for the shock and strut change on both sides
12 hours for the control arm/ ball joint changes on both sides in the front
Do you guys think it is reasonable?

Like so many workshops they are billing you for profit on the parts you supplied. The whole job took 3.5 hours.
Even if Mercedes did it they would be half the price. There is a billing code for each job to be done and they are claiming that someone spent 2 whole days on this car.
I have seen cars taken to an empty shell in 1 day.
Get a quote from Mercedes. They have every job with defined time limits. Even those time limits are generous.
