powerbrake?

what does "powerbrake" exactly mean? I have a rough idea, but want to be sure.

It means to use your left foot to hold the brake pedal while you mildly rev the engine as a method of launching at a higher rpm.... this is of course on an auto tranny car

that's what i thought. i know some people who do that to burn out...does that cause problems with the engine, tranny, etc?

too poor now
i thguoht power brake was a broake booster on ur master cylendar makes ti easier to depress the brake pedal for better stopping power

think that might be brake assist?

anyway, power brake/brake torque u just do as above...it'll raise rpm up to the stall speed of the torque limiter...usually set right around or before the start of the torque plateau....

You both may be correct

Back 25 years ago you could still buy a car without vaccuum assisted "Power Brakes". These usually were cars with drum brakes, front and rear as drum brakes do not need as much force to slow a car (which is why most rear emergency brakes are drum). Cars then were advertized as having "Power Brakes" if in fact they had this assist.

About using your brakes to hold the car while you use the accelerator pedel to bring engine revolutions up, I have not heard this referred to as power braking, but you could be correct. Your maximum engine speed is limited when you do this to what is called your cars "stall speed".
