Kompressor long term reliability?

I`m kicking around the idea of getting a C230. Are there any long term durabilty issues with the Kompressor engine or with the supercharger itself? I`ve always had normally aspirated cars up til now, and I worry a bit about having to replace a blower in a few years. I tend to corner hard but am not real hard on the gas pedal, so motors usually last me. This seems like a pretty stout package, but I dont have much experience with them. Thanks, Anthony Case

The Eaton supercharger unit generally has a service life of 100,000 to 125,000 miles. While this a long time in most other makes, it is not in a Mercedes.

The M62 supercharger found on the 2.3L M111 engine is a non-rebuilable (debatable) sealed assembly that has no on-going maintenance requirements.

Similar Eaton units found in Ford and GM applications generally wear around the 125K-mile mark.

I do know of a few C230K owners that have had to replace the supercharger unit, and their mileages are in the 100K-mile neighbourhood.

you coul get a rebuild for roughly $500, i have seen prices for Ford or GM rebuilds for that amount. Additional port/polish or other options can inflate the price to 800-900. I would contact eaton or magnuson directly for prices/info. As far as I know all eaton superchargers are rebuidable.
