high temperature when using a/c

hi everyone. Has anyone here ever experience this problem? When i'm in stop and go traffic with the a/c on, my temp gauge shoots up to almost the red zone . If i turn off my a/c, then its goes back down to a little higher than half. I know these cars run a little hotter but i dont know what's going on. I bought a new radiator, new thermostat (the cooler one), no coolant leaks of any sort. Please let me know if anyone has experienced this. Thank you.

This should be normal, to an extent. Turning on the A/C makes the engine work harder.

hey, i have been doing mostly stop and go driving, like a 40 min drive.

with the a/c on, it doesn't go anywhere near the red mark, it goes slight over 80 or the mark above it. but it's the one mark that's like below the red. way below. i think, i just got the car 2 weeks ago so bear with me :\ . but with the a/c on, it only goes up slightly.

are your fans working right? maybe the waterpump or something aint' runnin right.

Just wondering if you truly had a problem or everything was OK because mine does the same thing out here in SOCAL.

the most mine has ever gone to while in sit and go traffic with A/C on is the 100 degree mark...should be normal because if it's really hot outside and u'r sitting in traffic with A/C on, just making the engine work harder.

Once you get going, it cools down... i think because your feeding cooler air into the engine vs while u'r sitting there and little air is getting in?

it has to be the water pump. if you have changed the radiator thermostat and fan clutch, and the engine is still getting hot, it must be the water pump.
if this is not it, it might possibly be air trapped in the refrigeration line. try bleeding the circuit.

I live in a really hot climate too, when I'm in stop and go traffic when it's really hot outside with my A/C going, my temp gauge will go up a little past the 120 mark. Then it will go back down when I start the car moving again, I believe this is kind of a normal thing for Mercedes. I, too, have no leaks and my car's hoses and stuff are in perfect condition.
