Delayed Start?

Hi Guys:

I noticed this delayed start issue about 2-3 weeks ago, I simply turn the key there is about a 1-2 second pause if that and it cranks. There is also a weird sound when I turn the car off when this issue started and almost sounds like something winding itself down. Not too sure if its the alternator on its way out...it has been very cold here and I do not drive the car that much.

I have also noticed the lights flicker occasionally and this started a year ago if it helps any, once it nearly died. Generally fine after I run the car for a minute.

Any ideas?

Thx!!!

I thing you have a problem with the solenoid of the starter motor, it’s either sticking and not releasing after you start it up (that explains the winding sounds), or a bad solenoid and relay switches ( that explains the 2 seconds delay). If I were you I’d better pull down and check on the starter motor quick before it could cause major damage on the crank flywheel teeth…
