Just purchased a 98 c230. The car came with one chrome and black smart key with the panic button on the insert side of the key, this key starts the car and the buttons lock and unlock the doors and trunk (haven't tried the panic button yet). In the glove box there were two all black smart keys with the panic button on the top of the key (think these were the original keys that came with the car new. They do not open or lock anything even though the red led does light when I push the buttons. I have not tried inserting them into the ignition to try to start the car as I am afraid they might disable the car? Is there any risk of trying to start the car with these? If they don't start the car can they be programmed to? Any advice would be helpful.
