Car Jackin'

Do any of you know where or if I can lift the entire front end of my 280with one jack? and also the rear end?

I like to rotate my tires myself, and getting the car up and off the ground so I can take off all 4 tires has been a challange and dangerous.

I have jack stands, but only one floor jack. I know where to jack the car up from on the sides, but was hoping to lift the entire front or rear at once.

Thanks

safest way.....is to use 4 jack stands and do it one corner at a time starting with the front....put the jack stands on the crossmembers....something fixed that can carry the weight....that's how my mechanic does mine...

Since you are rotating the tires front to back back to front, why do you need to lift the entire front or entire back at once? You need to lift the entire SIDE at once. So what I do is use a jack with a lot of lift, lift one side under a jack point, put a jack stand under the other jack point (for safety), and move the tires front to back and back to front. Then remove the jack stand and lower the jack.

I rotate my my front tires to the back, but I cross them also. The front driver side tire gets rotated to the rear passenger side. This way, one tire ends up getting rotated to all positions. eventually.

I try and rotate mine every 5-7K miles. I have a Ford-F150 and I put 97000 miles on the last set of tires. Probably a combination of rotation, correct tire pressure, and most of it was highway miles.

Which is very bad, if you are using radial tires. And even worse if you have directional tires.

But really, you shouldn't cross the tires. Check your owners manual.

And tires that are made to last that long. Not to mention, it's difficult to get solid axles and "I-beam suspension" out of alignment.
