97 C230 driver seat problem

I am having problems with for/aft movement of the drivers seat. I tried exchanging the relays in the trunk, no luck. The seat tilt/up/down works fine. I see there are 3 electric motors under the seat & the middle motor appears to control fore/aft movement. When the door switch is moved either forward or reverse the seat will move about 2-3" then stop. After several seconds I hear a click like a reset then the seat will move several more inches. Looks like I need to remove the seat, turn it upside down & check connections & the motor. Suggestions on seat removal & motor check would be appreciated.
Thanks, timberframe

Your seat problem

You can tilt the seat back as far as possible, and the wire connections can be seen and disconnected easily. They have a slide clip holding them in place, so don't start jerking on them.
Once you remove the clips, check the wires to see if any are loose or damaged. Sounds like a mild short or overload, and will be easy to find and fix.
Good luck
