Hi, I have a 2000 c230 kompressor with 139k miles and it drives smooth when all of a sudden the BAS/ESP, ABS and the brake wear warning lights turned on and my transmission won't shift up to 2nd gear and up. Also the speedometer doesn't work when the ABS and the brake wear lights are on. They turned on and off intermittently, turned on when the brake pedal is pressed at times.
I tried to accelerate up hoping it will shift up but it turned the check engine light on.

I read on some threads that the brake switch might do the trick but I want to know other fixes. I'll check the brake pads and rotors if they are worn out and clean them well with brake cleaners. I need help please.

 

Also, when the ABS and the brake wear are off, the car shifts good.

 

I checked the codes and they are P0720 and P0500. Please help guys.

Did you ever solve this problem? I just had it happen to my SLK230 , 1998. Exact same problem you describe but I can never get it to tturn on without all the warning lights, no speedo and no shift.
