asr button doesn't work

asr button doesn't work
Hi everybody, new to the forum.
I own a 2000 w202 c200 cdi, and I can't switch ASR off. I push the button but nothing happens, the light in the instrument panel don't light up.
While driving, the ASR works as intended, and the light flashes when it kicks in, either due to wet road or aggressive driving.
I disassembled the center console, and looked at the switch, and the plug that connects to it only as one wire, although the switch as more pins (5 or 6, can't really remember).
That seems strange to me, because the button can be pressed up or down
Is there any plug disconnected and hiding behind the other cables, or is there a problem with the switch itself or in some other place?
