REMOVAL OF REAR VIEW MIRROR ON C230, 1997
I have to get to the aspirator motor behind the dome light panel to service the motor because of noisiness. I probably have to remove the rear view mirror first to enable detachment of the dome light unit/panel. Can you please advise as how to go about to do this?

The mirror is a spring load affair that snaps in and out of a socket. It takes quite a good tug to get it out, you're almost afraid it will break, but it does come out. But I gotta ask, what is an aspirator motor?

One other trick about the mirror attachment. The spring attachment has a feature that makes it much easier to reinstall. Clamp the spring loaded studs in a vice and compress them. There is a leg of the spring that will drop into a groove in one of the studs, holding it in the compressed position by a few millimeters. When it is in position the leg of the spring will push out of the groove and lock the mirror into position.
