Check MAF by using voltage meter?

I heard that you can check your Mass air flow meter by using a voltage meter or something like that. Not sure on all this. The reading on a good MAF is different from a reading from a bad MAF. Anybody ever heard of something like this?

Yes, you may check the voltage running through the MAS sensor. You can check it buy putting the + of the multimeter to P5 of the MAS wire harness, and - goes to the P3. Meter must be set to 1 volt.

I dont know what the acceptable ranges are for your car (unless you have a C43), but I am sure you can ask around or find them somewhere on the web.

thanks. So if I do this and my voltmeter reads out of the specs of the MAF....then it would most likely be the MAF right?

denlasoul,
what is the spec for a C43...I can't seem to find it for my c230. Aren't C230 and C43 MAF's the same?
