coolant flush
98 c280 upper radiator hose broke, i duct taped the hose and filled with tap water to get home. i replaced the hose and filled up with Prestone. now i am hearing how bad Prestone is and what rst damage can occur by using tap water. Do i need to flush and replace? thanks

They recommend distilled water.
I understand the principal reason, but not too many gas stations have it at the pumps :-)
I use a HOAT type anti freeze by choice.

The cooling system in your Mercedes-Benz should be flushed and re-filled every two to three years. Use only genuine Mercedes-Benz coolant or Zerez G-05, as these are the only two coolants that are approved for the engine in your car. Also, you should only mix coolant with distilled water in order to keep minerals, which may cause a build-up and corrosion, out of the system.

Definitely flush it when you can and use the z05 antifreeze and distilled water, both of which can be bought at places like walmart or you local parts store. Doubt you have any real damage to the system in a short time.
