Possible bumpersticker..

What do you guys think of this idea? I thought it was good when I made it, although now I'm having second thoughts. My car would probably last a week or so before it got keyed by some hotshot in a bimmer. But serioulsy, it speaks the truth, no?

by the way, I just got a set of Sylvania silverstars for the lights, I'll give you some pics when thats in.

Not too sure....

I owned six MB's (three W123s, a W201 and two W202s) and a BMW (E39 528i) and I can't honestly say the MB's have more class than the E39. The E39 is an awsome car.

Never-the-less, I do like your bumper sticker.

maybe if you compared the e39 to a w210 or a w210 or something in the same class then you'd have a different opinion

When I take my W202 in for service, my dealer often gives me a E320 as a loaner. As it often takes a week or more for repairs, I have driven an E320 extensively and I would not say it is any better than a E39, and in some ways worse. I do not like the low profile tires as they seam to be very noisy and whenever they go over a bump they make a loud thump, like someone hitting the side of the tire with a base ball bat. I have notice this on a number of E320's I have driven as loaners.

In reading posts on the other MB models forums, the Bigger MB's have problems of their own. The newest early production E's had problems with the Command Console that MB was not able to resolve. I have read about problems with the new S's not recognizing their own keys and not allowing the car to start or even shuting down while driving. We have friends with S's that tell us their S's spend more time in the shop than at home. MB doses not seem to have mastered the super complex electronics in their newest cars. That being said, I do not like the newest BMW 7's or 5's that their designer Chris Bangel has been involved with. The I-Drive is a fiasco, and there is software problems with the active suspension in the W60's.

I am thankful for the releitive reliability that we have in our W202 as it does not seem to be in the newer MB's or BMW's.

it'd be kinda cool to have a huge banner stuck on a motorized sun shade on the rear windscreen that says "Eat my dust beemer!" and then at night flash the beemers only and then pop it to make em see it

Agreed.

I totally agree. Although I do like BMWs, especially the 3 series (not at all fond of any new BMW designs), I have to agree that the MBs have more class. Maybe it's just psychological and has to do with MB's history and Pedigree which are much richer than BMW.

Let's face it, when a foriegn diplomat hops into his car to head out of the embassy, he ain't getting into the back of a BMW.

I was in Athens Greece over the New Year. I was sitting in the Cafe Metropol eating breakfast and the President pulled up to the church across the square for a New Year's Day service in the back of an S600. There were about 40 other MB's parked in the square with only a small handful Audis and BMWs present.

I have had four MB diesels. A 240D, 300D, 300TD and a W201 190D 2.5. I have had two W202 and one E39. I have enjoyed each car for it's own strenths. The E39 is an awsome car in it's own right, not a MB without class.

I have put over 200K on each of my W123 diesels. In many ways I consider them the best MB ever built. They are bullet proof, go forever, and have never required major engine or trany work (except two clutch plates in the 240D manual transmissions). My only problem was the rust/wear of the rear axle support member in the 240D which caused me to donate it to charity as I couldn't justify a $1,500 repair on a 20 year old car with 215K miles.

Please don't get me wrong, I think MBs and BMWs are both great cars.

i was kidding btw,,,but yeah the 123s are awsome cars, but the diesels really suck in the winter if you live in a cold area (i lived with one for five years) they are just too old now and are incredibly slow :o

The only BMW I can really compare/relate to the C230 is the E46 325i it replaced after losing the right side doors to a Caravan . The BMW is much more of a *driver's car* : better suspension all around , better handling , more fun power/delivery and so on but for what I want a sedan to do : haul my clients around , be a nice relaxed car for road trips and such it's a bit better - though I wished that I had compared rear seat room a bit better beforehand .For cruising on the interstate and taking people to dinner and such , I like the Mercedes better and I do think the black Mercedes is classier looking than the BMW but that's entirely subjective . I don't drive the Mercedes for the driving experience - if I had been shopping for a car on fun to drive factor it wouldn't have been considered but then again my fun car is a slightly modified S14 240 that has virtually no practical use at all . Horses for courses : the Mercedes is a great car for what it is What's funny is that other than the C series Mercedes and 3 series BMW's I don't have much interest in the marques - I don't like to drive cars any larger than either .
