Talking Strange or really good MPG?

I filled up yesterday and reset the trip reading. Since then, I've driven 93 miles on the trip reading. The gas gauge has only moved to the middle between the full line and the 1st quarter line.

Something wrong with my gas gauge or just really good MPG?

You have to be real careful about gas milage, even from 1 tankful, unless you fill up at the same pump at the same angle topped off to the exactly same level. Some of my cars can get an extra gallon or 2 if the are at the best angle vs. worst. Even with the exact same driving habits, I see almost +/- 1 MPG with my 36 @ ~23. I can't keep my foot out of the 43, so I'm getting 5 to 8.

my owner's manual for the c220 gives more than 400 miles per tank.... i've done a 650 km (380 mi) trip once with only one tank... i did however reach there with a dry tank!

i think its just the gas tank level sensor being uneven or uncalibrated at the higher level of the gas tank cause after the first 1/8 - 1/4 of gas, the level drops a lot faster than at the beginning

I can put another 1 1/2 gal in after the gas gauge reads full and the fuel spout at the self-serve clicks off. If I top off the tank until the gas is up to the top of the neck (and stays there) with my C-220 I could get 100 miles until the needle moved off of Full, 200 miles to 3/4, 300 miles to 1/2, 400 miles to 1/4 and 450 miles to the light coming on, when I would drive 65 mph on the highway on long trips with the a/c off.

I notice the same thing with my C-280, but the MPG is lower.

Generally, I get around 425 - 450 miles on a tank with my C220. I run Sunoco or Shell. Admittedly, that's mostly highway. I average around 21-22 strictly city driving and almost 30 on the highway.

In the city, I get 550km's on a tank.

For you Yanks (metric imparied) that's 23-24mpg.

On the highway, I always get at least 650km's per tank even pushing the car, usually much more. In the fall (no AC running) I drove 400km's to the Rockies, and came back. At 810km's the light came on and I put 57L in. I drove at 100km/h on cruise all the way.

That mileage was 7.0L/100km's, which is 35mpUSg.

As the miles pile on, the 2.3L M111 just gets better and better...

I just filled up at the gas station yesterday. I'm about the same area you are and I've gone about 80 miles. I don't think there's anything wrong with your car. I have a C 280 too.

When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

I haven't in 5 years and i just did a few months ago. Notice my gas milage was going up but the car ran alot smoother and stronger. A clogged fuel filter could be the reason why.

I think the last time was at the 120,000 mile service and i'm going to do my next service (a lil over due, oops) when I get my oil change at like 139,000 miles...should only be a month or two, so probably they'll change it again then.
