Surging cruise control?

On colder days, when I engage the cruise control, it will initially surge then drop back repeatedly for a minute or two then settle out and run normally. Any ideas where to start looking? Thanks!

There was a recall years ago on earlier w202s and the cruise control. Apparently the linkage or wire could get stuck or something of the sort and it was replaced under the recall campaign...may wanna ask your service advisor? or have you gotten this recall taken care of already?

yeah that's true, there were actually two cc related recall campains, and they only affected the c220 4cyl cars... model years 94-96

CMP94-0421 APR 95 Recall - Cruise Control Linkage Replacement
94V091000 APR 94 Recall 94V091000: Cruise Control Linkage Binding

check with your local dealer if appropriate modifications were performed...
