Spring Pad System

While this may seem like a stupid question, can someone explain the whole Mercedes pad system for the springs? Is there a way to lower the car with just the pads, or is it just for fine-tuning a lowered car?

#5 pad max fron
#4 pad max rear

5 thickest
1 thinnest

u can ower car 1/2 inch with pad

depends on car u get some come with #1 pads some come with #4 pads.
