Hey guys i tried to turn my car on amd the key will not turn at all.... Any one eles have this problem..?

Do you able to move the steering L or R when you insert the key..?

Steering wheel is locked i put the key in and turn it a tiny bit then steering wheel is now open and i can turn it left and right.. but still unable to get to postion #1 at allllll.... =/ so i cant turn on my stereo or roll my windows up or down =/

Yes Thats the problem i have ... Only issue is that i can not turn my key to position #1 to remove the barrel..=/ if its not on position #1 i wont be able to turn the black barrel..=/

Any suggestions on how i can get it to postion #1..????

Since its the orignal key from 97 i ordered a new key from the stealership lol... Hope that works.. and if it does ill still remove it an sand down the ignion pices

If ignition not turn to any position at all, should to replace it..!

I just picked up my new key and looks alot better than the one i have sooo hooefully this one works...

I saw the video and its easy but my problem is i cant get to postion #1 without that i cant remove the black cap to get to the tumbler

That's weird..!, most of guys who had same this key issue, solved by replace the ignition or cut the lock through local dealer...

Thanx for the info.... =) i was able to remove my ignition switch. And it looks like ill have to cut out the black cover and tumbler...

Do u have a link or a part number to the tumbler and black cover..????

*Key Tumbler #: "202 460 07 04"





*there are 2 kind of black cover, depend of your VIN:-

A) "202 462 03 23"



B) "202 462 04 23"

Thank you for ur help..=) i just orded my new tumbler with key and cover =).. total $60 =) suks my key fob will now be useless lol but oo well beats spendjng $1500 at the stealership =)

Key Fob will still control doors and locks.

If you went through dealer to order tumbler you could get one coded to the VIN and use the original keys. But I think the tumbler is about $130 that way.

So i got my parts in =) sooo i was able to remove the cap but the tumbler still stuck inside =/ any ideas..???

My ignition was not damaged at alll my cuts were clean.... But i can still but the key inside and not move it to postion #1....

Since you have the assembly out of the car, I would replace the whole thing. When this happened to me the housing itself was the issue.

Hey guys am really fed up with this benz....=/...

I bough the new ignition switch and everything but how the helll do i remove that dam black box sensor thing from the old ignition switch..???
I have all my parts this is just holding me back.

Hey guys soo i have everything pkigged in and my key finaly turns.. i habe a new ignition switch with keys and tumble.... Alll my lightd and stuff turn on but when i turn the keu to fire it willl not fire at alllll....

And ideas to what is going on..?????

Is it cranking but not start, or not cranking at all..??

It does crank.. and we also put some starter fluid down the intake and the car did run for a moment and that was it...

But it will not run on its own.. so there must be a fuel isssue..

And when it cranks on its own it feels like it needs 1 more crank to turn on but it doesnt...

Bad battery or bad starter could cause this, did you check any of these..??

Battery got replaced cuz it was shot out.... I dont think it can be the starter beacuse if i put starter fluid in the imtake the car will start up.... But as soon as it burns that up car will shut off...
