Odometer, tripometer, temperature, and clock not visible

I have a 2000 C 280 (I'm not up on the lingo of the forum, I guess that makes it a W202?). All of the digital read outs below the instrument panel have slowly over time disappeared. I'm not bothered by it at all, but the DC DMV is. I need to have my odometer visible in order to pass their yearly inspection and register my car.

Does anyone have any experience with this sort of issue? Is it something that is difficult and $$$ to fix, or is it something that is (at least somewhat) easy to take care of? I'm trying to keep her alive long enough to score a pre-owned 2015

Other than replacing headlights, I'm not skilled enough to fix things by myself. So any insights into what the problem might be and how expensive it is to replace would be great! Thanks!

I have not yet diagnosed the car. Am taking it to the mechanic tomorrow.

Some very small parts of the numbers on the odometer and the clock do show up at times. And the display that shows what gear I'm in works (although there are some vertical lines). Does that still sound like the fuses or no? I'll go take a look at them today!
